U.S. DEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIORBUREAU OF LAND MANAGEMENT
Green River Chamber of Commerce Visitor Center
Since 2010, the Green River Chamber of Commerce Visitor Center has fostered two wild horses every summer. This year’s yearlings were gathered in the Salt Wells Creek Herd Management Area, south of Rock Springs, Wyo. A grey filly, tag number 0650, and a bay filly, tag number 0713, are featured at the visitor center, 1155 W. Flaming Gorge Way, Green River, Wyo. Visitors and locals alike are welcome to stop by, get to know the wild horses, enter the "Name the Horses" contest, learn about the BLM’s Wild Horse and Burro Adoption Program and possibly adopt one or both.
The "Name the Horses" contest coincides with the time two wild horses are fostered at the visitor center. Sweetwater County residents may submit one entry per person until July 11, 2014. Entries may be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org, submitted on Facebook at www.facebook.com/GreenRiverChamber or mailed or delivered to the Green River Chamber of Commerce, 1155 W. Flaming Gorge Way, Green River WY 82935. Winners will be announced in the chamber's August newsletter, receive a $25 gift certificate and have a picture taken with the horse they have named.
