Arrow is about 8. He was gathered as a two year old from the Antelope Hills herd management area (HMA).

“I was 59 when I got him. I hadn't had a horse in 25 years,” Jan said.” “I used to ride English (I'm from New England originally) and did some hunter/jumper stuff and some lower-level eventing. My intent was to get a steady-eddie trail horse. Instead I bought a green broke mustang.”

Jan actually ended up with two mustangs. Arrow was on the "green" side of green broke, and the other mustang, Flying Cloud, was from the Adobe Town HMA. He was halter broke and had had some round pen work. Both had great starts, as the folks who adopted them from BLM originally understood horses in general, and mustangs in particular.

“Arrow is now my go-to guy for competitive trail American Competitive Trail Horse Association (ACTHA) competitions. Cloud is going to try out endurance racing. So much for an old lady's Sunday ride in the park!”

Jan adds, “Both of these horses are smart, happy and willing, have wonderful feet and legs, and will take me anywhere I want to go. I strongly recommend natural horsemanship training, as it makes great sense to both horse and handler, and produces excellent results. Best wishes to all who care for, and about, the American Mustang!”
