Horses Available for Adoption by Silent Bid at CFD
These fillies came to Mantle’s last November as weanlings and they have been handled for about the last 40 to 45 days on an individual type level. The Mantles are in the pens daily either feeding or cleaning, or just walking through, which helps to quiet and gentle the horses before starting on halters.
They now can be haltered, led, both with a person leading them from the ground and from another horse. They stand tied and have had all of their feet picked up and handled. They have been introduced to tarps, 4-wheelers and machinery, with the intent to allow them to check it all out and accept it. Basically, the Mantles earned their trust and showed them that people won't hurt them or put them into an uncomfortable situation.
Steve Mantel said, “They have a foundation put in place to move forward with as they grow and mature, to where hopefully the new adopters of these fillies can have a good experience and as much fun with them as we have had.”
