Planned Start Date: August - September 2011
Planned Project Duration: 3 - 14 days Project Summary: The Big Firehole Canyon Prescribed Burn is planned for September of 2011. Approximately 1800 acres of sagebrush, sagebrush/mountain shrub and juniper will be treated using prescribed fire. The project is located on the divide between Big Firehole Canyon and Sage Creek west of Sweetwater County Road 75. Benefits expected include a reduction of hazardous fuels, increased protection for the Firehole Campground (USFS), and improvements in watershed and wildlife habitat.
