CHEYENNE, Wyo. - Wyoming BLM Wildlife Biologist Dave Roberts was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Wyoming Chapter of The Wildlife Society at their Nov. 27, 2007 meeting in Lander.  

Roberts started his career with the BLM in Miles City, Mont. as a biologist and ecologist in the mid-1970s, transferred to Worland, Wyo. as the district biologist in 1978, and moved to Cheyenne in 1985, where he has since been the lead biologist at the State Office. Throughout his 33-year career, Roberts has written and contributed to numerous BLM planning documents such as Habitat Management Plans, Resource Management Plans, Environmental Impact Statements, and Wyoming Riparian Policy. He has also been part of countless groups devoted to the protection of black-footed ferrets, grizzly bears, bighorn sheep, prairie dogs, eagles, deer, elk, sage grouse, wetlands and sagebrush habitats.

He has offered expertise to local, state and national committees such as the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation grants committee and BLM national manual revision committees. Roberts has also actively supported the education and career development of young biologists, especially in his capacity as the BLM Wyoming’s lead biologist.

Roberts has been an essential member of the BLM wildlife team and has rightfully earned this prestigious award.
