It’s official. With right hand raised, Mike Stewart took the oath of office as Cody Field Manager Thursday, July 26. Presiding over the ceremony was BLM Wyoming State Director Bob Bennett.

Mike began his BLM career in 1981 as a seasonal range technician in the Rawlins District. He has been a permanent BLM employee since 1983 when he worked as a range technician and a range conservationist in Worland. He has also taken assignments in Colorado, Nevada, and at the Lander Field Office. Since 2003, Mike has served as associate field manager in the BLM Lewistown Field Office, Montana.

“I’m appreciative of the many members of the community who stopped by to meet me and wish me well in my new position, and I’m looking forward to working with all who have an interest in the BLM administered public lands in the northern Bighorn Basin,” commented Mike who has spent his first weeks on the job familiarizing himself with the area and the issues addressed by the Cody Field Office. When asked for his initial reaction to his new office, his response was immediate and sincere, “I’m most impressed with the tremendous talents and outstanding work ethic of my staff.”

Welcome back home to Wyoming, Mike!
