BLM Casper Releases EA for Black Beauty Mine


The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Casper Field Office announces the availability of an environmental assessment (EA) for the proposed Black Beauty Mine project located approximately 13 miles southwest of Wheatland, Wyo. in Platte County.

Stone Wholesale, Inc. has proposed to develop a 57.3 acre dimensional stone quarry targeting an amphibolite deposit for sale as decorative stone in the building market. The Black Beauty Mine as proposed would be located in T. 23 N., R. 70 W., portions of Sections 13 and 24 in Platte County.

The EA has been prepared by the BLM, Casper Field Office in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act to analyze the impacts of the proposed project.  It is available for public review and comment at http://www.blm.gov/wy/st/en/info/NEPA/documents/cfo.html.

The public comment period runs from June 3 through July 3, 2014.  Comments should be addressed to:  AFM Minerals and Lands, BLM Casper Field Office, 2987 Prospector Drive, Casper, WY, 82609.  Comments may also be emailed to casper_wymail@blm.gov; please include "Black Beauty Mine" in the subject line.
