Reminders this Hunting Season

As local area hunters take to the outdoors, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Casper Field Office would like to wish hunters a safe and enjoyable season.

BLM would also like to remind hunters of the following:

  • Adhere to all rules and regulations pertaining to the use of motorized vehicles. Driving off road more than 300 feet is not allowed on public lands within the Casper Field Office without expressed permission from the BLM. Establishing new trails and two-tracks is also unlawful.
  • Follow the dispersed camping guidelines to minimize impacts to your public lands. Remember to tread lightly, and if you pack it in, pack it out.
  • Know before you go. Check for fire restrictions before heading afield. Partial fire restrictions remain in effect for Natrona, Converse, Goshen and Platte Counties. Refer to the following website for details and updates throughout the fall season: http://www.wy.blm.gov/wy_fire_restrictions/.
  • Livestock are often found grazing on our public lands. To avoid them venturing onto neighboring properties, becoming lost, or creating ecological concerns, be sure to leave all gates as you find them, and take care not to shoot near or toward any livestock.

The staff at your local BLM field office in Casper will be happy to assist you with any questions you may have. Please call 307-261-7600 or stop by the office at 2987 Prospector Drive for more information.

The BLM manages more than 245 million acres of public land, the most of any Federal agency. This land, known as the National System of Public Lands, is primarily located in 12 Western states, including Alaska. The BLM also administers 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estate throughout the nation. The BLM's mission is to manage and conserve the public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations under our mandate of multiple-use and sustained yield. In Fiscal Year 2013, the BLM generated $4.7 billion in receipts from public lands.
