Public Invited to WLCI Executive Committee Meeting


The Wyoming Landscape Conservation Initiative (WLCI) Executive Committee (EC) will hold its quarterly meeting on June 25 and 26 at the Best Western Fossil Country Inn, 760 Highway 189/30, in Kemmerer, Wyo.

The June 25 meeting will begin at 1 p.m. Topics of discussion will include the budget, fiscal year 2013 allocations, a review of proposed 2014 habitat projects, transfer of the chair and selection of a vice-chair, team accomplishments and outreach updates. The WLCI EC welcomes public comments at designated times.

On June 26, a tour of several Ruby Pipeline conservation projects and the Fossil Butte National Monument will depart from the Best Western at 8 a.m. and is expected to end at 2 p.m. Members of the public joining the tour are encouraged to bring a lunch.

The public is invited to attend the meeting and field tour to learn more about the collaborative efforts of federal, state, county and local agencies to address wildlife, riparian and habitat issues in landscape conservation throughout southern Wyoming.



WLCI is a long-term, science-based effort to assess and enhance aquatic and terrestrial habitats at a landscape scale in southwest Wyoming, while facilitating responsible development of the region’s valuable energy resources. The WLCI Executive Committee is comprised of representatives from the Bureau of Land Management, U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, U.S. Forest Service, U.S. Geological Survey, Wyoming Department of Agriculture, Wyoming Game & Fish Department, conservation districts, and county commissions. Sweetwater County Conservation District Chair Mary Thoman is currently serving as chairman of the committee. BLM Wyoming State Director Don Simpson and Wyoming Department of Agriculture Director Jason Fearneyhough serve respectively as first vice chair and second vice chair.
