Bureau of Land Management Wyoming Resource Advisory Council Meeting Set
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Wyoming Resource Advisory Council (RAC) will meet Thursday, June 30 and Friday, July 1 at the Wyoming State Office, 5353 Yellowstone Road, Cheyenne, Wyo.
The meeting is open to the public and will run from 3 - 5 p.m. in the first floor conference room on Thursday. On Friday, the meeting will begin at 8 a.m. The public comment period will be 2:30 - 3 p.m. Interested persons may make oral comments or file written statements for the council to consider.
Topics to be discussed at the meeting will include orientation, election of officers, district briefings and a discussion on sage-grouse.
The purpose of the council is to advise BLM's Designated Federal Official, the Wyoming State Director, on a variety of issues associated with public land management. For more information contact BLM RAC Coordinator Cindy Wertz, (307) 775-6014.
The BLM manages more than 245 million acres of public land, the most of any Federal agency. This land, known as the National System of Public Lands, is primarily located in 12 Western states, including Alaska. The BLM also administers 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estate throughout the nation. The BLM's multiple-use mission is to sustain the health, diversity, and productivity of the public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations. In Fiscal Year 2012, activities on public lands generated $4.6 billion in revenue, much of which was shared with the States where the activities occurred. In addition, public lands contributed more than $112 billion to the U.S. economy and helped support more than 500,000 jobs.
