Greencore CO2 Pipeline EA Available for Review
from BLM Casper Field Office

The Greencore carbon dioxide (CO2) Pipeline Environmental Assessment (EA) is now available for review from the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Casper Field Office. The EA is available online at:  www.blm.gov/wy/st/en/info/NEPA/cfodocs.html

Greencore Pipeline Company, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Denbury Resources, Inc. is proposing a 231 mile 20-inch liquid CO2 pipeline from the Conoco Phillips Lost Cabin gas plant in Fremont County, Wyo. to the Belle Creek oil field in Montana. The CO2 transported by the pipeline will be used for enhanced oil recovery at the Belle Creek oil field.

Pipeline construction would occur in portions of Fremont, Natrona, Johnson, and Campbell counties in Wyoming, and in Powder River County, Montana. Construction activities would include clearing and grading, trenching, pipe laying, backfilling and grading, cleanup and reclamation, hydrostatic testing, and operation of the pipeline. Project disturbance would include up to a 100-foot right of way, temporary use areas, and temporary upgrading of some access roads.

The BLM is asking the public to review and comment on the Greencore CO2 EA. Written comments should be submitted by February 7, 2011 to the BLM Casper Field Office, 2987 Prospector Drive, Casper, WY 82604-2968, or fax (307) 261-7587 Attention: Neal Ruebush. Send email comments to: Casper_WYMail@blm.gov with “Greencore EA” in the subject line.

The BLM manages more than 245 million acres of public land, the most of any Federal agency. This land, known as the National System of Public Lands, is primarily located in 12 Western states, including Alaska. The BLM also administers 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estate throughout the nation. In Fiscal Year (FY) 2011, recreational and other activities on BLM-managed land contributed more than $130 billion to the U.S. economy and supported more than 600,000 American jobs. The Bureau is also one of a handful of agencies that collects more revenue than it spends. In FY 2012, nearly $5.7 billion will be generated on lands managed by the BLM, which operates on a $1.1 billion budget. The BLM's multiple-use mission is to sustain the health and productivity of the public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations. The Bureau accomplishes this by managing such activities as outdoor recreation, livestock grazing, mineral development, and energy production, and by conserving natural, historical, cultural, and other resources on public lands.
