The Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) Jonah Interagency Mitigation and Reclamation Office (JIO) and the Pinedale Anticline Project Office (PAPO) will host the JIO Agency Managers Committee Meeting and the joint PAPO Agency Managers Committee/Pinedale Anticline Mitigation Management Board Meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009. The JIO meeting will be held from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m., and the PAPO meeting from 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. The meetings will be at the BLM, Wyoming State Office, 5353 Yellowstone Road, Cheyenne, Wyo. in the first floor conference room. The JIO Committee and PAPO Committee/Board will act on an aggressive agenda including financial reports, JIO/PAPO/Wyoming Landscape Conservation Initiative (WLCI) coordination efforts, conservation easements/plans, reclamation monitoring plans, new funding applications, industry updates, and other business. The JIO and PAPO meetings are open to the public. The JIO and PAPO, and their mitigation funds were created as a result of the BLM Records of Decision for the purpose of mitigating the intense oil and gas resource development occurring in the Jonah, and Pinedale Anticline oil and gas fields located in the Upper Green River Valley of Wyo. For more information, please contact Jim Lucas, JIO and PAPO Coordinator, at 307-367-5361. Information on the JIO and PAPO projects may also be obtained online at: www.blm.gov/wy/st/en/field_offices/Pinedale/anticline.html, and www.wy.blm.gov/jonah_office/ . The BLM manages more land - 253 million acres - than any other Federal agency. This land, known as the National System of Public Lands, is primarily located in 12 Western states, including Alaska. The Bureau, with a budget of about $1 billion, also administers 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estate throughout the nation. The BLM's multiple-use mission is to sustain the health and productivity of the public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations. The Bureau accomplishes this by managing such activities as outdoor recreation, livestock grazing, mineral development, and energy production, and by conserving natural, historical, cultural, and other resources on public lands. |
