BLM Improves Recreational Opportunities
along Trapper’s Route
The Bureau of Land Management Casper Field Office will begin improvements on two public access areas along Trapper’s Route this July.
The Trapper’s Route Special Recreation Management Area includes a number of public landing and access points along the North Platte River between Casper and Alcova, Wyo. In 2006, the Casper Field Office completed a Special Recreation Area Management Plan for this area outlining a number of recreational improvements including the construction of developed recreation areas.
The two sites are located approximately 1 mile downstream of the Gray Reef public access point. A parking area and an interpretive hiking trail will be constructed at The Redd’s walk-in area. A campground with several pull-through and back-in sites, a walking path, and a day use parking area will be constructed at Pete’s Draw. Both sites are scheduled to be completed this fall.
While these sites will be closed for public safety during construction, work at each site will be staggered in order to limit any public inconvenience. BLM asks for your patience during this phase of development. If you have any questions or concerns please contact Eve Bennett, outdoor recreation planner, at (307) 261-7517.
