BLM Sponsors Climb to Conquer Cancer on Muddy Mountain
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Casper Field Office is sponsoring the American Cancer Society’s 2008 Climb to Conquer Cancer on Muddy Mountain June 28, 2008.
Climb to Conquer Cancer Casper is a noncompetitive walk to raise awareness and funds to fight cancer. Contributions are dedicated to life-saving American Cancer Society research, education, advocacy, and patient service programs to defeat this disease.
Participants will have the choice of walking 2.5 miles on the Loop Road within the Muddy Mountain Environmental Education Area (EEA) or climbing 5 miles up Muddy Mountain Road. There will be lunch and live entertainment at Lodgepole Campground.
The walk will take place from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Motorized travel on the Muddy Mountain Road will be restricted during the event for the safety of the participants. Camping space may also be limited on Friday evening as The American Cancer Society will be preparing for the upcoming event.
Muddy Mountain is a popular recreation area located 20 minutes south of Casper. The 1,260 acre Muddy Mountain EEA provides camping, hiking, biking, and many other recreational opportunities to the public.
The American Cancer Society is a nationwide community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to cancer prevention, saving lives and minimizing suffering through research, education and advocacy services.
