Vlcan Named New Trails Center Volunteer Coordinator
Jason Vlcan has been selected as the Volunteer Coordinator at the National Historic Trails Interpretive Center (NHTIC).
“I believe that Jason will bring a new energy with new ideas and an opportunity to grow our program in new directions. His enthusiasm, energy, and vision are perfect complements to our existing program,” said Trails Center Director Jude Carino.
Vlcan began his career at the NHTIC three years ago as a Visitor Information Specialist. He has a Bachelors of Science in Biology, and a Masters Degree in Education. Vlcan has also worked at Custer State Park, and South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks Department. In his spare time he enjoys fly fishing, backpacking in the mountains, exploring Wyoming, spending time with family and friends, sports, and gardening around the yard.
“I am very excited and grateful to be selected as the Volunteer Coordinator for the NHTIC. I am eager to start working with the volunteers, current staff members, and the public, all for the benefit of this wonderful Center,” said Vlcan.
Vlcan noted that the Trails Center is seeking volunteers for the summer season. Volunteers are needed to assist staff on weekends and to serve as tour guides for groups.
Weekend volunteers will serve as exhibit interpreters and also operate the river crossing experience for visitors. These volunteers can serve one day a week or once or twice a month depending upon a person’s schedule and the Trail Center’s needs. Orientation and training will be provided for all new volunteers.
Anyone interested in volunteering at the NHTIC should contact Jason Vlcan at (307) 261-7787.
