BLM Open House Features Vegetation Treatment Projects
The BLM Cody and Worland Field Offices will host an open house Wednesday, Feb. 27 to present several proposed vegetation treatment projects planned for the area in the near future.
Projects will begin this spring and will range in size from five to 5000 acres. The projects are designed for a variety of landscapes and are intended to improve habitat and diversity, reduce erosion of upland slopes and riparian areas, and provide a fuel break that can reduce wildfire intensity. Typical vegetation treatments include mowing in sagebrush stands, cutting conifers in aspen stands and riparian areas, applying herbicide for weed control, and prescribed burning in mountain shrub communities.
The open house will be from 4 to 7 pm at the Big Horn Federal Savings Bank, 1701 Stampede Av. in Cody, Wyo. For more information contact the BLM Cody Field Office at 307-578-5900.
