Public Comment Sought By BLM on Powerline Right-Of-Way Proposal
The Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) Cody and Billings Field Offices are seeking public comment on a proposed electric powerline right-of-way proposal submitted by Beartooth Electric Cooperative, Inc.
The Cooperative has applied for right-of-way grant across public lands in the Clark, Wyo., and Belfry, Mont. Areas to construct and maintain an above-ground 69 kV transmission power line. The powerline would extend approximately 21 miles, 10.3 miles of which would cross Federal land. The power line would bring power from the existing Belfry power substation to a new substation in the Clark area.
The public is encouraged to help determine the level of analysis of the proposal, offer ideas to ensure its completeness, and suggest alternatives and mitigation. Comments will be accepted through March 17, 2008. The document is available at http://www.blm.gov/wy/st/en/info/NEPA/cyfodocs/beartooth_powerline.html
