BLM Sets Public Meeting for the
Pinedale Anticline Revised Draft Supplemental EIS
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) will meet Thursday, January 17, 2008, at the Sublette County Library in Pinedale, Wyo. to discuss two new alternatives in the proposed plan for the Pinedale Anticline development project. The meeting is open to the public from 12 to 4 p.m. and opportunities for the public to comment will be from 6 to 9 p.m.
The BLM recently issued the Notice of Availability (NOA) for the Revised Draft Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (RDSEIS) to include these two new alternatives.
The first additional alternative (D) provides for an expanded core area divided into five development areas, and a potential development area that surrounds the majority of the core. The second additional alternative (E) analyzes the proposed development without relaxing seasonal timing restrictions.
The BLM is analyzing a proposal for long-term development of natural gas resources in the Pinedale Anticline Project Area (PAPA).
The operators propose to conduct year-round drilling and completions in Concentrated Development Areas within the PAPA.
Production of natural gas recovered could be up to 25 trillion cubic feet (TCF), enough to heat 12.5 million homes for a span of 20 years. The royalties over the Life of Plan from the production of natural gas would generate approximately $16 billion, with half going to the State of Wyoming.
The meeting is a forum for public discussion on oil and gas exploration and development issues of concern in the Pinedale Anticline area. Any party interested in providing comments or data related to the revised draft SEIS may do so in writing to: the Bureau of Land Management, Pinedale Field Office, Caleb Hiner, Project Manager, 1625 West Pine Street, P.O. Box 768, Pinedale, Wyoming 82941. E-mails may be sent to WYMail_PAPA_YRA@blm.gov.
The RDSEIS is available at www.blm.gov/wy/st/en/info/NEPA/pfodocs/anticline/seis.html and at the Pinedale Field Office.
