Lander BLM Offers Christmas Tree Permits
The Lander Field Office of the Bureau of Land Management is offering Christmas tree permits for sale for the 2007 Holiday Season.
A minimum of 1, up to a maximum of 5, Christmas trees can be individually purchased on a single permit for Christmas trees located on BLM administered lands within the Lander, WY field office area. Without additional written authorization Christmas trees that are purchased on BLM permits must not exceed 15 feet in height and/or 6 inch DBH (diameter at breast height). Christmas tree species on BLM lands in Wyoming include, Douglas fir, subalpine fir, Engelmann spruce, lodgepole, ponderosa, and limber pine, and juniper.
Due to seasonal closures (Dec. 1 to June 15) for wildlife value protection, Green Mountain will not be open for Christmas tree cutting unless the cutting is done before the Dec. 1 closure date. The primary cutting location for Christmas trees for the Lander, WY Bureau of Land Management field office will be on BLM administered lands in the Southpass and/or the Dubois, WY area. Due to weather, road conditions, and access, Christmas tree cutting on BLM administered lands can be limited.
Christmas tree permits are $7.50 per/tree and are available at the Lander Field Office main lobby desk, 1335 Main Street, Lander, Wyo., Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. The permits expire Dec. 25, 2007.
