August 1, 2007 Contact: Michele Easley 307-828-4524 Public Invited to 5 Meeting Dates Set for Kemmerer Draft Resource Management Plan Environmental Impact Statement The BLM is asking the public to submit their comments on the Draft Resource Management Plan (RMP) Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) within the 90-day comment period which began July 13 and ends on Friday, Oct. 11, 2007. The Draft RMP/EIS contains potential land use allocations for approximately 1.4 million acres of surface and approximately 1.6 million acres of federal mineral estate in the planning area. The proposed uses include a new proposed coal lease area, streams determined eligible for inclusion in the National Wild and Scenic Rivers System, potential Areas of Critical Environmental Concern, and areas considered suitable for livestock grazing, oil and gas leasing, and wind energy development. The Kemmerer BLM will host an open house or public meeting in five Wyoming locations. All of the open houses and public meetings will be held from 3-7 p.m. and take place at the following locations: Cokeville – Open House Monday, Aug.6 Cokeville Town Hall 110 Pine Street Kemmerer – Public Meeting Tuesday, Aug. 7 Lincoln County Library 519 Emerald Street Rock Springs – Public Meeting Wednesday, Aug. 8 BLM Rock Springs Office 280 Highway 191 North Evanston – Public Meeting Thursday, Aug. 9 Uinta County Library 701 Main Street Lyman – Open House Friday, Aug. 10 Lyman Town Hall 100 E Sage Street The Kemmerer RMP EIS is available electronically at: http://www.blm.gov/rmp/kemmerer.
