August 1, 2007 Contact: Michele Easley 307-828-4524 Public Invited to 5 Meeting Dates Set for Kemmerer Draft Resource Management Plan Environmental Impact StatementThe BLM is asking the public to submit their comments on the Draft Resource Management Plan (RMP) Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) within the 90-day comment period which began July 13 and ends on Friday, Oct. 11, 2007. The Draft RMP/EIS contains potential land use allocations for approximately 1.4 million acres of surface and approximately 1.6 million acres of federal mineral estate in the planning area. The proposed uses include a new proposed coal lease area, streams determined eligible for inclusion in the National Wild and Scenic Rivers System, potential Areas of Critical Environmental Concern, and areas considered suitable for livestock grazing, oil and gas leasing, and wind energy development. The Kemmerer BLM will host an open house or public meeting in five Wyoming locations.
