Lightning Starts Camp Creek Fire
The BLM’s Western Wyoming Fire Zone fire crews quickly contained the Camp Creek Fire which began Monday, July 23. The 140-acre fire located east of the Kemmerer Reservoir was contained at 1 p.m. Tuesday by firefighters from the BLM, Lincoln County, US Forest Service and the Kemmerer Fire Department.
The fire was believed to be caused by lightning from an afternoon thunderstorm. A Type III helicopter out of the Rawlins BLM office was used to drop water on the fire.
