Jane Darnell named Wyoming Deputy State Director of Resource Policy and Management, Mike Stewart hired as Cody Field Manager

The Bureau of Land Management has hired Jane Darnell as the Deputy State Director of Resource Policy and Management, and Mike Stewart as the Cody Field Manager.

Jane Darnell began work with the US Forest Service in 1989. Since 2001, she has been the Wyoming Capital City Coordinator focusing on issues of common interest to the state and the national forests in Wyoming. Previously she worked as a district ranger in Lemmon, SD and with the Northern Rockies Regional Office in Missoula, Mont. as a realty specialist. Her career with the Forest Service began in Douglas, Wyo. where she worked in range and as a realty specialist.

She is a graduate of Colorado State University with a degree in Farm and Ranch Management. She was born in southern Iowa but moved at an early age to Wyoming and ultimately Colorado following her father's career in journalism.

"Jane’s work with the BLM in Wyoming has demonstrated her ability and we look forward to her leadership in resource policy and management," BLM Wyoming State Director Bob Bennett said.

Mike Stewart has worked as the Lewistown, Mont. associate field manager since 2003. From 1994 to 2003 he served as the assistant field manager for resources in the Lander Field Office. From 1992 to 1994 he worked in Nevada’s Tonopah Resource Area as a supervisory natural resource specialist. He also worked for four years for the Bureau of Reclamation in Colorado.

Mike began his career as a seasonal range technician working in Rawlins and Lander, with his first permanent job as a range technician in Worland. He will report to Cody June 10.

"I am thrilled to be returning to Wyoming and very honored to join the Cody Field Office," said Stewart. "I am looking forward to getting to know and working with the staff and the members of the public who use and enjoy the public lands administered by the Cody office."
