BLM Hosts Open House on Weed Treatments in Bighorn Basin
The Worland Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is hosting an open house on April 24, at 6 p.m. at the Worland Field Office, 101 South 23rd, to discuss using herbicides, insecticides and/or prescribed fire to treat weeds and beet leafhoppers on BLM lands in the Big Horn Basin in 2007.
Proposed treatment areas include public lands adjacent to agriculture areas in Washakie, Hot Springs and Big Horn Counties. BLM employees, as well as representatives from the County Weed and Pest districts will be on hand at the open house to answer questions and take comments regarding the proposed treatments. BLM is preparing an Environmental Assessment as well. There will be a 14-day comment period beginning April 23 and ending May 7.
Questions regarding the meeting may be directed to BLM Weed Coordinator Rance Neighbors, at 307-347-5148 or the Worland Field Office at 307-347-5100.
