BLM Releases Decision Record/Finding of No Significant Impact for Hanna Draw Coalbed Natural Gas Pilot
The Bureau of Land Management, Rawlins Field Office, has issued its Decision of Record and Finding of No Significant Impact for the Hanna Draw Coalbed Natural Gas (CBNG) Pilot Project.
The Hanna Draw CBNG Pilot Project is located, in part, on BLM-administered public land, and is located about 10 miles northeast of Hanna, Wyo.
The BLM released an Environmental Assessment (EA) on the project for public review on January 29, 2007. The Decision Record, which includes public comments made during review of the EA, is posted on the Rawlins Field Office website at: http://www.blm.gov/wy/st/en/info/NEPA/documents/nepadocs07.html.
The Hanna Draw CBNG Pilot Project EA considered the impacts from the development of 15 CBNG wells and appurtenant access and facilities. Produced water from the CBNG wells will be disposed of by discharge into an existing reservoir south of the project area. The reservoir capacity will limit the duration and/or rate of produced water disposal. The expected duration of discharge to the reservoir is expected to be around three months. Should other means of water disposal be proposed, additional NEPA analysis would be necessary. The Decision Record documents the BLM's finding that no significant impacts will result from implementation of the proposed action, with mitigation, and that project components and permits could be authorized.
