BLM Seeks Input On McCullough Peaks Seismic Project
The Bureau of Land Management Cody Field Office will host a public meeting Monday, March 19 from 4-7 p.m. in Cody, Wyo. to present details of a proposed seismic exploration project in the McCullough Peaks area.
Bill Barrett Corporation of Denver has applied for authorization to conduct the project for up to three months in search of oil and gas deposits under 44 square miles of the McCullough Peaks area. The project would employ various ground vibrating technologies including vibroseis "buggies" and shotholes, also known as buried charges.
The public meeting is an initial stage of a full environmental assessment that BLM will conduct prior to issuing a decision on the proposal and will be held in the Community Room of Bighorn Federal Savings Bank, 1701 Stampede Avenue, in Cody. The public is encouraged to attend to help identify concerns, alternatives, and mitigation opportunities.
