BLM Seeks Public Input On Oil And Gas Development
In Heart Mountain Area

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Cody Field Office is seeking public input for an Environmental Assessment of potential oil and gas development in the area of the Heart Mountain War Relocation Center (HMWRC), which has been nominated to be a National Historic Landmark. Public comments identifying issues or concerns will be accepted through Jan. 12, 2007.

The assessment will contribute to the process of developing stipulations to energy development that would preserve HMWRC’s visual setting and historic context. Issues identified to date include the potential change to the setting and impacts to the local community and visitors.

The HMWRC is located between Cody and Powell in Park County, Wyo. The surrounding area is primarily agricultural with limited residential development.

Please send written comments to: BLM Cody Field Office, Attn: David Seward, PO Box 518, Cody, Wyo. 82414, or e-mail cody_wymail@blm.gov.
