Activity Plan Affects Travel In BLM’s Little Mountain Area

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Cody Field Office has issued an Activity Plan that affects motorized travel on 69,000 acres of public land in the Little Mountain area, located 13 miles east of Lovell, Wyo.

The plan will eliminate duplicate routes to the same locations and close other routes to reduce erosion and enhance wildlife habitat and hunting opportunities. A seasonal provision will prohibit motorized vehicles on top of Little Mountain from Dec. 1 through April 30 to protect big game winter range. Overall, accessibility within the area by four wheel-drive vehicles and all terrain vehicles remains largely unchanged. New route designations will be posted in the summer of 2007.

Many comments received during the public comment period were incorporated into the plan. Maps and documents are available at public libraries throughout the Big Horn Basin, at the BLM Cody Field Office, and at www.wy.blm.gov/nepa/cyfodocs/littlemountain.
