Don Simpson named BLM Wyoming Assoc. State Director

The Bureau of Land Management has named Don Simpson as the Wyoming Associate State Director. Don has been serving as the Acting Associate State Director for nearly a year, as well as the Deputy State Director of Resource/Policy Management.

“Don brings tremendous enthusiasm, creativity and a sense of humor to the BLM. He has been instrumental in working closely with local and state government, as well as the many citizen and commercial organizations interested in public land management,” BLM Wyoming State Director Bob Bennett said.

“I have enjoyed working in Wyoming and look forward to continuing to work with our state's various groups and agencies to find practical solutions to land management issues,” Don said.

Don’s first federal experience came on a fire crew in 1974. From 1977 through 1989, he worked in the BLM as a forestry tech, realty specialist, lands program lead and chief of land services stationed in BLM offices in Glenwood Springs, Colo.; Bonners Ferry and Salmon, Idaho; and the Idaho State Office.

Don worked in Washington, D.C. as a realty specialist, land acquisition program lead, a legislative fellow, a member of the ecosystem management team, and in legislative affairs. In 1998 he became the Wyoming Deputy State Director of Resource Policy/Management. He also served as the Acting Associate State Director for Colorado and the Acting District Manager, Salem, Ore.
