Public Invited to View BLM Pinedale Project Commitments
Earlier this year, the Pinedale BLM office began compiling a list of commitments made in various decision documents over the past 10 years including the Jonah and Pinedale Anticline natural gas fields. The Pinedale Field Office has reviewed these decision documents and developed a commitment tracking spreadsheet which helps the Pinedale BLM oversee these projects.
The BLM will host an open house meeting on Monday, November 6 in the Sublette County Library so the public may review the list of commitments. “We encourage the public to see our high level of success,” said Caleb Hiner, a planning and environmental coordinator for the Pinedale BLM office. “We want folks to understand our commitment tracking system -- what we have done and what we are doing now,” Hiner added. The open house is from 9:00 a.m. to noon.
The Pinedale BLM will use this document as a working analysis of commitment progress and as a check to initiate and implement best management practices. Several environmental documents have been prepared as required by the National Environmental Policy Act to analyze the impacts of oil and gas activity within the Pinedale Anticline and Jonah gas fields.
“Through the hard work of the BLM staff and with the cooperation of the operators and federal, state, and local agencies, the BLM has achieved more than 90 percent of its target. We have implemented or will implement nearly all of these commitments. The completed list of commitments and the status of those commitments is available for review at the Pinedale BLM Office.
Comments on the list of commitments can be sent to BLM Pinedale Field Office, Attention: Caleb Hiner, P.O. Box 768, Pinedale, Wyoming. For more information, contact Hiner at (307) 367-5352.
