October 19, 2006 Contact: Andrew Tkach 307-347-5251 Public Input Sought By BLM On Powerline Right-Of-Way RequestThe Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Cody and Billings Field Offices are seeking public comment as part of their analysis of a right-of-way proposal submitted by Beartooth Electric Cooperative Inc. The cooperative has applied for an electric powerline right-of-way grant across public lands in the Clark, Wyo., and Belfry, Mont. areas. The project proposal involves rigging an above ground 69 kV transmission power line for approximately 21 miles, of which 10.3 miles would cross federal land. The power line would bring power from the existing Belfry power substation to a new substation in the Clark area. The public is encouraged to help determine the level of analysis of the proposal, offer ideas to ensure its completeness, and suggest alternatives and mitigation. Comments will be accepted through Nov. 20, 2006. More information is available at www.wy.blm.gov/nepa/cyfodocs/beartooth_powerline. -BLM- |
