Bridge Razing set for Paint Rock Creek
A timber footbridge across Paint Rock Creek is slated for demolition this fall.
The bridge, on a BLM grazing allotment, was closed after an engineering survey deemed it unsafe, and unsalvageable. Keith Christiansen, with the National Science and Technology Center in Denver, noted, “The superstructure and trusses are in advanced decay, the underside and topside of the deck are in poor condition, and there is a severe loss of embankment. The structure is in danger of collapse.”
Located in a remote area of Paint Rock Canyon near the Bighorn National Forest boundary, (approximately 10 miles northeast of Hyattville) the bridge was used mainly by adjacent ranches.
