Upcoming BLM Prescribed Burns
BLM's Rawlins Field Office BLM is planning four prescribed burns this fall.
These burns will be conducted in decadent stands of sagebrush, mountain shrubs, and aspen. They will be utilized to improve wildlife habitat, livestock distribution, and riparian and rangeland health.
The Savery Phase III prescribed burn will encompass 500 acres and is located 20 miles south of Rawlins. The Upper Separation Creek prescribed burn will encompass 1,000 acres and is located 10 miles south of Rawlins. The East Muddy prescribed burn, will be 200-250 acres in size and is located north of Baggs. The West Loco prescribed burn, located 8 miles north of Dixon, is the second phase of an on-going project and will treat 1,000 to 1,500 acres of land.
The ignition and timing of these prescribed burns will depend on the weather and fuels meeting the parameters of burn prescription requirements.
Anyone needing additional information about these four prescribed burns should contact Larry Trapp, Zone Fire Management Officer, at the Rawlins Field Office, 307-328-4200.
