Newcastle BLM Office Holds Open House:
Public invited to meet new Field Office Manager Vi Hillman
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Newcastle Field Office will be holding an open house on September 28, 2006 from 1 to 3 p.m. The open house will give the public an opportunity to meet the new Newcastle Field Office Manager Vi Hillman. Hillman assumed leadership at the Newcastle Field Office in July.
“I am looking forward to this opportunity to meet the people who use and enjoy BLM-administered public lands in northeastern Wyoming and to hear their ideas for the future management of those lands,” said Hillman. “We plan to have plenty of maps, brochures and refreshments on hand, along with some BLM specialists who can answer questions about the public lands,” Hillman added.
Hillman began her career with the Bureau of Land Management as a seasonal employee in 1978. She worked 14 seasons at the Salt Lake Field Office. Hillman has been the state lead for several fire programs at the Utah State Office since 1997. She worked as an interagency fire program manager for the Intermountain Regional Office, USDA Forest Service and Utah State Office the past three years.
She has a Master's Degree in Education and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Secondary Education. She was an Adjunct Professor at the University of Utah and Weber State University from 1991-1998. Prior to attending graduate school, Hillman taught eight years at the high school level.
The Newcastle Field Office is located at 1101 Washington Boulevard. For more information, call the field office at 307-746-6600.
