Please Join Us At This Awareness Program!
The Wyoming Wildfire Prevention and Education Team is hosting a spark arrester awareness program for the media at the Natrona Fire Protection District station, 2800 Pheasant Drive in Casper on Thursday, August 31 at 10:00 AM.
With hunting season on the horizon and wildland recreation increasing over the Labor Day weekend, the Team is seeking the cooperation from the media in getting information to the public about the purpose of spark arresters, how they function and how to maintain them. We will demonstrate the function of these devices and how they can prevent wildfire.
Presently most of the public is aware that internal combustion engines are responsible for a great deal of smog, but not everyone knows that hot carbon particles from engines in tractors, all-terrain vehicles and motor bikes start many wildland fires. The Team will explain why spark arresters are needed on chainsaws, wood splitters, generators, power lawnmowers, compressors, and welders to stop sparks from escaping and igniting a wildfire.
Please RSVP so we can provide water, refreshments and handout material for each of you.
