June 23, 2006 Contact: Andrew Tkach, 307-347-5251 BLM Announces Fireworks Areas BLM Worland Field Office has announced temporary, local exceptions to the fireworks ban on public lands. While the use and discharge of fireworks on public lands is generally prohibited by fire prevention orders, the gravel pits northwest of Worland, and the bentonite hills east of Basin are areas that pose a very low risk of wildland fire occurrence. In order to provide an acceptable area to discharge fireworks during the Independence Day holiday, BLM has authorized fireworks use from June 29 through July 5 at two specific locations within these areas. Maps are available at: http://www.wy.blm.gov/newsreleases/2006/06/fireworks_worland.pdf and http://www.wy.blm.gov/newsreleases/2006/06/fireworks_basin.pdf Litter regulations will be enforced. -BLM-
