Red Lakes National Trails Day Cleanup Event - All Volunteers Welcome
Wildflowers are in bloom and the pronghorn and rabbits abound, so gather a friend or two and come enjoy a morning of camaraderie and environmental goodwill. In celebration of National Trails Day, Saturday, June 3, volunteers will be sprucing up the Red Lakes area while discovering a multitude of recreational opportunities available in Cody’s own backyard.
National Trails Day events are coordinated by the American Hiking Society, the Bureau of Land Management, and local businesses. Across the country, thousands of similar events will attract over a million participants. Find additional information about the nationwide National Trails Day effort at www.americanhiking.org.
The Red Lakes cleanup group will be meeting at 9 a.m. at the cattle-guard on Skyline Drive, southwest of Cody. Organizers will provide tools, garbage bags, light snacks, and supplemental water. Volunteers should bring a sack lunch, water, hat, sunscreen, gloves, and sturdy shoes. The clean up should last about 4 hours, and volunteers will receive a gift pack in appreciation and recognition of their efforts. No pre-registration is necessary and the event is free.
