Rawlins BLM Announces Scoping of Geophysical Project

BLM is planning to prepare an Environmental Analysis (EA) for a proposed geophysical project to be known as the Hatfield 3D Seismic Survey. The center of the project is located approximately 12 miles south of Rawlins, Wyo.

Whiting Oil & Gas Corporation and Dawson Geophysical Co. have filed a Notice of Intent to Conduct Geophysical Operations with BLM’s Rawlins Field Office for a seismic survey project on public, fee, and state lands within Carbon County, Wyoming.

The scoping process is an opportunity for the public to participate in the earliest phase of environmental assessment for the Hatfield 3D Seismic Survey. Information and comments received from the public helps BLM determine relevant issues and look at alternatives in the environmental assessment.

The scoping period ends March 31, 2006. Comments should be submitted to:

Tom Foertsch, Physical Scientist
Bureau of Land Management
Rawlins Field Office
P.0. Box 2407

E-mail: rawlins_wymail@blm.gov
