Uranerz Energy Corporation has filed a Plan of Operations with the BLM Buffalo Field Office (BFO) to use BLM surface within the Hank Unit of their Nichols Ranch In-Situ Uranium Mine. BLM authority to modify the project is limited to BLM surface, however BLM will analyze environmental impacts from the entire Nichols Ranch project. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) issued Uranerz a Material License for the Nichols Ranch project in July 2011. BLM is currently working with Uranerz to ensure their plan is complete as defined by 43 CFR 3809.401. Once the plan is complete, BLM will initiate scoping and the environmental analysis process with a30-day public review of the complete plan of operations. The submitted plan of operations and location maps are available on this web page.

For additional information contact Thomas Bills, project manager, by telephone at (307) 684-1133 or by email at NicholsRanch_Uranium_WY@blm.gov.
