Travel Management Areas

There are several Travel Management Areas in the Casper Field Office. Each area has its own unique character with a wealth of outdoor recreation opportunities. The Casper Field Office is currently completing road designations in these areas. As transportation network is completed, a map of the road designations and additional information on the areas will be made available on the web.


Poison Spider OHV Park

Location: Natrona County

Nearest Town: Casper

Things to note:

  • Fee free area
  • ATV stickers are required
  • Closure/Restrictions: Non-motorized recreation is not permitted in the park

How to get there: From Highway 20/26 west of Casper, turn left (southwest) on County Road 201 (Poison Spider Road) and continue for approximately 9.5 miles. The entrance is on the right (north).


Sand Hills Transportation Management Area

Location: Natrona County

Nearest Town: Casper

Things to note:

  • Fee free area
  • ATV stickers are required
  • 17,000 acres of vegetated sand dunes
  • Recreation opportunities in the area are mainly related to big game hunting
  • Closures/Restrictions: There is no legal public access. Visitors must obtain land owner permission for motorized access to the area. Motorized use is limited to the designated road network. Roads are signed on location.

How to get there: From Highway 20/26 west of Casper, turn left on County Road 201 (Poison Spider Road) and travel for roughly 9.5 miles. The entrance is on the right (north).
