Mosier Gulch Recreation Area

Located 5 miles west of Buffalo, Wyoming, along US Highway 16, this area lies at the foothills of the Big Horn Mountains (map). With almost 900 acres of ponderosa pine-forested lands, Mosier Gulch canyon is a popular hiking area.

A developed roadside picnic area complete with picnic tables, pedestal fire grates, and a vault toilet is available. In addition, the picnic area is a trailhead for the Clear Creek walking path which leads back to Buffalo.

At an elevation between 5,500 and 6,800 feet, this area is also home to mule deer, antelope, eagles, and ocassionally black bear and elk.

This area is open for hunting with a Wyoming Game and Fish Department license. Trout fishing is available on adjacent city of Buffalo lands along Clear Creek.
