Scab Creek Campground

Need: The Scab Creek Campground project is being constructed to separate future campers with horses from campers that do not have horses.

Recovery Act Funding: Items that will be constructed during this project are a new road that will provide access to 7 new campsites complete with tent area, picnic tables and fire rings. New aggregate surfacing will be placed on the constructed road. A horse corral will also be installed as part of the new construction. Eagle Feather Construction out of Roberts, ID was awarded the contract for $177,870.15 with work starting on June 7, 2010. Construction was completed on July 28, 2010.

Benefits: Currently, there is no place for visitors with horses to camp when they visit Scab Creek. With this new camping area, signs will be installed directing campers with horse trailers to the area more suited to their needs. This new campsite will also be constructed be provide separation between campers that have horses and campers that do not for health and safety reasons.
