RECOVERY ACT FUNDING: The project was awarded to Cook's Construction LLC for a total of $98,846.76 for the campground and $50,622 was spent on the road gravel. BENEFITS: The campgrounds (Golden Current, Chalk Bluffs, and Buffalo Berry) will provide additional recreational opportunities along the river corridor and will direct visitors to specific locations that can handle the increased use. The newly surfaced roads will provide safe and reliable routes to popular fishing areas redirecting off-highway vehicle traffic away from closed roads. Uncontrolled OHV use in riparian areas was resulting in surface damage, impacting native plant communities and causing excessive erosion. Project Photos
