Volunteer Jim Soukup talks to a school tour.

Educational tours of the facility by trained docents and interpreters are available. Reservations are required and school rates apply. To best facilitate a learning environment, the following stipulations apply:

  • A maximum of sixty (60) students per tour.
  • One chaperone for every ten (10) students is required.

A calendar and online tour form is provided to help in scheduling and reserving a date & time for a group tour. School tour times are scheduled for the morning and afternoon as follows:

  • MWF: 9:30-11:30 & 12:00-2:00
  • TTH: 10:30-12:30 & 1:00-3:00

Educational groups may wish to enhance their visits to Casper with a visit to other museums and facilities in Casper. Moreover, school groups larger than sixty students may wish to divide the group and rotate visits with these other educational opportunities (NHTIC staff is willing to aid in the planning of rotations). Suggestions include:

Classroom Visits

Trails Center staff are available for classroom visits and other group presentations within the commuting area of Casper. Talks are offered for all grade levels and community organizations. Topics include emigrant trails and trail life, natural history of the trails, and information on the Bureau of Land Management.

For more information on any of these educational offerings, please contact the Trails Center at 307-261-7700 or email trailscenter_wy@blm.gov.

Commercial Group Tours

Other types of groups are also welcome at the NHTIC for a discounted rate. Commercial groups (such as bus tours, family and school reunions, and business conventions) which are interested in visiting the facility should contact the NHTIC at 307-261-7700 or trailscenter_wy@blm.gov. Reservations for guided tours are required.
