National Interagency Fire Center (NIFC) in Boise, Idaho, is the nation's support center for wildland firefighting. Seven federal and state agencies work together here to coordinate and support wildland fire and disaster operations. Teamwork is key to the effectiveness of NIFC. Supplies, equipment, and personnel are shared in an effort to facilitate efficient and cost-effective fire management. You will take a tour of the Fire Center and come to appreciate all that's involved.
You'll also come to realize that there's more to dealing with fires than simply fighting them. NIFC also focuses on education of homeowners. After all, fires are natural occurrences and they will continue to burn. But homes don't have to—if proper precautions are taken.
