The cast and crew of CBS's Touched by an Angel have been filming on BLM lands in Utah¹s deserts and mountains for years. When they needed a backdrop that looked like Africa for an episode shot in August 1999, they chose the dry, barren landscape of an old gravel pit on Stansbury Island. This choice of location resulted in no damage to public lands on the island.
