SURVEYOR OPPORTUNITIES IN BLM

Typically, BLM recruits potential surveyors through the Student Education Employment Program as Student Career Experience Program (SCEP) or Student Temporary Employment Program (STEP) participants. On completion of the SCEP component employees may be converted to an entry level Cadastral Surveyor position without competition. Promotion potential to the journeyman level and beyond comes quickly to the employee who remains flexible in their work location. This is your opportunity to become a member of the BLM family in an exciting and rewarding job with promotional opportunities and great benefits.

In addition to the SCEP and STEP programs, which are geared towards college students, the BLM employs the Federal Career Internship Program hiring authority. This hiring authority is geared towards individuals that are within six months of completing their Surveying related degree, or have already graduated and currently working in the private sector. This hiring procedure allows an agency to bring on board individuals under a two-year term appointment. Individuals with a good work record may be converted after two years, without competition, into a career or career conditional status.

The BLM will be accepting applications and conducting interviews for a Cadastral Land Surveyor at the ACSM Conference on February 20-22, 2009.
