Resources For Youth and Families

Educating children in outdoor settings is a proven technique for improving student test scores and motivation, enhancing understanding of natural processes, and promoting attitudes of respect and responsibility.

Schools and Youth Groups

Outdoor Careers: BLM Resource Explorers
BLM natural and cultural resource specialists work outdoors in interesting settings. BLM's Student Educational Employment Program (SEEP) offers Students work-study opportunities with BLM. Student Conservation Association student workers perform resource management and education projects in BLM communities around the nation.

Take It Outside Partnerships

The BLM's partner organizations contribute funding, goods and services to support education, recreation, and volunteer programs on BLM public lands.

Partners have played a critical role in BLM's ability to offer outdoor programs and services to America's children and families through Take It Outside Activities, annual volunteer events such as National Public Lands Day, educational programs of Hands on the Land, and at BLM recreation sites that are "adopted" by local businesses and community groups.
