A recreation trip to BLM-managed lands takes some advance planning.  Weather, road conditions, and the remote location of many recreation sites are among the factors that must be considered when planning your visit.  As with any trip, careful planning is essential to a safe, enjoyable, and fun visit.  The resources below are geared to helping visitors decide where to go and what to do on Public Lands.

Interactive Map to BLM State Office Recreation Websites – Find recreation opportunities and other BLM recreation information by visiting the specific BLM State Office Recreation websites.  Use the interactive map on the BLM Recreation homepage.
Federal Recreational Lands Searchable Database / Reservations – Search for recreation opportunities on both BLM-managed and other Federal lands.  “Recreation.Gov” includes extensive searchable information on specific recreation sites and activities, and allows online reservations to be made for certain sites.
Public Lands Information Center – One-stop shopping for information about Federal- and State-managed recreation lands in the West.  Site includes an online book and map store.
America’s Byways – Certain roads are recognized as All-American Roads or National Scenic Byways based on one or more archaeological, cultural, historic, natural, recreational and scenic qualities.
BLM Recreation Fees, Permits & Passes – Sometimes a permit and/or a fee are required when visiting Public Lands.  Learn about visitor and commercial user fee and permit requirements, the “America the Beautiful - National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass,” and other related information.
