Subject:
Rotations for Presidential Management Fellows
 DD:  03/31/2010

This Information Bulletin requests that state and field offices submit Presidential Management Fellow (PMF) projects for one approximately 120-day rotational assignment beginning as early as June 2010 and one approximately 60-day rotational assignment beginning as early as August 2010.

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and the Department of the Interior currently have PMFs employed nationwide.  The PMF program is a highly competitive, government-wide professional development program designed to prepare individuals for management careers within the Federal government.  Individuals hired through the PMF program are graduates of a variety of master’s degree and doctoral-level programs.  PMFs receive an initial 2-year full-time excepted service appointment, after which they are eligible for conversion to a permanent position as a Federal government employee.

During their fellowships, PMFs take on one or more rotational assignments. The BLM fellows are currently seeking rotational opportunities and career experiences at the state and field office level for a 2-month and a 4-month period.  Travel and salary for the PMFs’ rotational assignments are funded by the PMFs’ home office.

Proposals should describe the project and duties the PMF would perform and the project timeframe. Assignments should give the PMF substantial responsibilities, allow the PMF to work on priority projects, and provide a learning opportunity.  Additionally, please include a brief description of the office and local community. Resumes, including dates of availability, are available upon request from each PMF. Additional information can be found at www.pmf.govProposals must be submitted by Wednesday, March 31, 2010.

If your office can offer this opportunity and would benefit from having a PMF, please submit proposals for the 120-day rotation electronically to Elizabeth Meyer-Shields at Elizabeth_Meyer@blm.gov and for the 60-day rotation to Dave Goodman at Jonathan_Goodman@blm.gov.

If you have questions regarding the PMF program or rotational assignments, please contact Marci Todd, Division Chief, Division of Decision Support, Planning and NEPA, at
