Subject:          Office of Management and Budget Circular A-119 – 2007 Annual Reporting Requirement                                 DD: 12/7/2007

Purpose: This directive requests input for the Office of Management and Budget Circular A-119 (Use of Voluntary Consensus Standards) – 2007 Annual Report, as requested by the Department of the Interior, Office of the Chief Information Officer.

 

Policy/Action:   In order to comply with this requirement, we request your input by December 7, 2007.

 

Please be aware that while the Office of the Chief Information Officer is the point of contact for consolidating this information, the reporting standards required by the National Technology Transfer Advancement Act (NTTAA) applies to all program areas. This request is not limited to information technology. 

 

The attached guidance (Attachment 1) from the National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST) contains the questions and associated help text for 2007. 

 

Timeframe: Responses due by December 7, 2007.

 

Budget Impact: Minimal.

 

Background: The National Technology Transfer and Advancement Act (NTTAA) (P.L. 104-113), as set forth in OMB Circular A-119 – Federal Register 63 FR 8545 requires annual reporting on the use of standards. You may review the 2006 consolidated report from DOI at: http://standards.gov. The 2006 BLM response is also attached; however, some of the questions have changed slightly since last year, so read each question carefully.
